I didn't need another camcorder, but this one came with a ton of accessories that will also work with my other Handycams, and has excellent video quality with its 1-megapixel CCD image sensor. Its built-in microphone also sounds great, with wide stereo separation and almost no audible tape noise. I think my existing DCR-TRV19 MiniDV camcorder has better color saturation and less grainy video in indoor lighting conditions, but this one has a brighter, crisper image, so each has their strengths.
