Here we introduce two faults into the memory of a 1999 Toyota Corolla diesel car. We disconnected the throttle position sensor and the intake air temperature sensor. Then, with the ignition on, we went to the diagnostic port and placed a jump wire between TE1 and E1. This sends blink codes for any faults to the MIL (malfunction indicator lamp) on the dashboard display. We then read the blinks and they were 24 and 41, which corresponded with the faults we had introduced.
