This PII-233 MHz Gateway 2000 was one of the first computers to come with a DVD reader drive. Since the main CPU was not fast enough to support full-motion MPEG2 decoding for DVD playback, it uses a hardware MPEG decoder board which attaches to the video and sound cards. Unfortunately, the DVD-ROM drive is broken, and the motherboard has a "resource conflict" error which prevents it from properly recognizing IDE drives, even when using an external PCI controller.
